INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
Now a day, banking organization has become essential for almost every person to deal with Banks some how in their bread & better life. As a result, Bank has become essential for every person to have some idea on the Bank and Banking procedure.
At present time, the Banking procedure is becoming faster, easier and the Banking arena is becoming wider. As the competitive field of the Banking sector, the Banking organizations are coming with innovative ideas.
So a part of this report has been developed concentration this matter. This report is prepared on the basis of my knowledge and practical expose and submitted after successful completion of the assign study containing the objectives, function and procedures of different desk of Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd. Mohakhali Branch.
1.2 Objective of the Study:
1. To acquire practical experience in different Banking service of Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd. Mohakhali Branch.
2. A brief discussion Retail, Credit and Foreign Exchange Division.
3. Discussion on function and operation of each level of the organization of Dutch-Bangla Bank of Bangladesh Ltd.
4. To determine the marketing aspect of the Bank.
5. To search the problems of this Branch of Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Ltd.
6. Evaluation of the present performance of the Bank.
7. To relate the theories of banking with practical banking activities.
1.3 Methodology of the Study:
To meet the objectives of the study I realized that a single method would not be effective. Formal & oral discussion, direct observation, questioning clients & printed papers of the Bank were found useful. To collect the necessary and meaningful information the following methods were applied. Both primary and secondary sources were used in here.
1.3.1 Data Collection:
The report was fully investigative in nature. Data have been collected from two sources:
1. Primary sources
2. Secondary sources
Primary Sources are as follows:
Face-to-face conversation with the respective officers and staffs of the Branch.
Practical work experience in the different desks of the departments of the Branch covered.
Relevant file study as provided by the officers concerned.
Secondary Sources of data and information are:
Annual Report of Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd.
Web site of the Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd.
Various books, articles regarding general Banking functions, Foreign exchange operations and credit policies.
Different 'Procedure Manual', published by Dutch-Bangla Bank.
Different circular sent by Head Office of Dutch-Bangla Bank and Bangladesh Bank.
1.3.2 Scope of the Study:
This report has been prepared on the basis of experience gathered during the period of internship from 14th February to 14th May, 2010. For preparing this report, I have also get information from annual report and website of the Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd. I have presented my experience and findings by using different chart and table, which are presented in the analysis part.
1.3.3 Limitation of the study:
The report also has some limitations. First of all data finding of Dutch-Bangla Bank of Bangladesh Ltd. was a trouble some work because of shortage of time. Secondly, adequate and in-depth well-organized literature was not available because a few researchers endeavored to work on such project in the past. It is a private Bank so; they are maintaining some sort of secrecy as well as privacy in giving information to the general public. The officers of Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd. are always busy with their works. But when ever I want to know about something they tried their best to provide me the information.
Though the officials tried to assist, sometime their working pressure couldn't give me proper assistance what I needed. Clients are also busy and not always helpful. Also they hesitate to comment on the Bank inside the premise which created problems for conducting survey. It was unable to reach big parties to discuss about the Banking services matters practiced by them with Mohakhali Branch, Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Ltd. There is some information which need special permission from top level are not ways achievable.
